Community outreach

SHO’s first community engagement, outreach, and awareness activities were conducted in 2024 as part of its initial efforts to connect with and serve the community. Attendance at these gatherings was modest; however, a small but meaningful number of community members participated, demonstrating early interest and support for the organization’s mission and programs.

An additional outreach event was held in 2025, with attendance slightly higher than the two events conducted in 2024. Participants at these events expressed interest in learning about future programs, particularly the Opioid Recovery Program

  • Attendees sought information about the program’s purpose and how it may support youth and families affected by opioid use. Although these early interactions were limited in scale, they played an important role in introducing the organization’s mission, sharing information about upcoming program components, and beginning to establish trust within the community. While the project has not yet resulted in measurable neighborhood-level impact, the preparatory work—including outreach, planning, and program setup—has positioned the organization to begin full intake and implementation as scheduled in early 2026. Once the program is formally launched, the organization anticipates increased engagement, a stronger community presence, and more significant outcomes for youth and families.
